David and Tanner Kay sweep weekend at Talladega Short Track
Tanner Adds Seventh Win and Track Championship
LINCOLN, Ala. (09/16/2025) – While Tanner Kay has made winning a regular occurrence in 2025, his father, David Kay, has recently joined the celebration—claiming three wins in his last four starts.
David stole the spotlight this past Saturday at Talladega Short Track, sweeping both the 604 and 602 Late Model divisions in his Advocate Roofing / Davison Insurance Agency LLC No. K5 Longhorn Chassis Late Model. The double dip comes just two weeks after his first victory of the season over Labor Day weekend at the third-mile Alabama oval.
“It’s been a heck of a year,” David Kay said in victory lane after Saturday’s sweep. “Winning has always been one of my favorite things to do, but seeing my boy’s face after he wins is the best. Nothing can compare. He’s been awesome this year, and things are starting to heat up for me, so I’m just grateful. Thanks to my beautiful wife and all of our sponsors—it’s much appreciated.”
Tanner, meanwhile, earned his seventh win of the year on Friday night at Talladega Raceway Park, clinching the 2025 track championship in the process. The next night, David rolled off from the front row in both Late Model features at TST and drove to the checkered flag in each.
Now with three wins on the season, David appears to be hitting his stride as the calendar turns toward fall. He credits recent performance gains to the team's car setup.
“We’ve had a really balanced race car under us lately, and I’m looking forward to finishing the season strong,” he added.
Tanner’s numbers remain stellar: seven wins in 12 starts, with no finish worse than third.

The go-kart schedule features two remaining events: November 15 and the annual Santa Shootout on December 19. Talladega Short Track has four race weekends left in 2025, with David’s next scheduled appearance set for the Toys for Tykes event on Sept. 26–27.
